The commonly used styles in Bharatanatyam Costumes are the the Skirt (Saree) Style or the Pyjama Style. Dancers wear costumes made of silk sarees with gold zari embroidery designs. The pleats in these costumes opens beautifully when the dancer forms a particular posture especially arai mandi (half sitting) and muzhu mandi (full sitting). Having its origin in Andhra Pradesh, there is not much of a difference between Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi costumes. The cross pleats that comes in Bharatanatyam costumes are also used in Kuchipudi , the only difference is the Katcham that comes at the back of a Kuchipudi costume. The dancer wears a stitched costume which has five pieces including the angrakha, blouse and pyjama. This costume is stitched out of a saree and generally has Orissa print on it which looks ethnic and beautiful. Click here to find out more.
The costume is mostly white or cream white in color stitched out of a saree. The border of the saree is in golden color or sometimes also have colorful border. Click here to find out more.

Shubhanu offers 6 yard sarees used for costume stitching and for normal use. We offer sarees in Aparna Silk, Apoorva Silk, Kalyani Silk, Kanchivaram Silk and Dharmavaram Silk. You can also order Veshti or Dhotis, Angavastras, cotton towels, Navagrahabits, Amman Paavadai, Blouse Pieces, gift items for navaratri etc as per your specification, Orders are taken for marriage , upanayanam, family functions etc.

Our Jewellery section includes Temple Jewellery (Silver based with Gold Polish), Imitation Temple Jewellery - these are mainly worn by Bharatanatyam & Kuchipudi dancers and also occasionally used by Mohiniattam dancers.
